RoAb #88 - The 'Quickest Path to Salvavage' Episode

Coming up on Roundabout . . . a hybrid car was banned from racing because it was too fast.  Hard to believe, I know.  Russian President Dimitry Medvedev nearly mows down a crowd of onlookers, “Grant Theft Auto” style.  And we come at you with another blockbusting installment of Versus!  Stick around for all of this excitement and much, much, much, much, much, more, only on RoundAbout!  Our special guest this week is Christiaan Conover of WheelSpin.tv.

Plagiarism, It's a Pretty Big Deal

+ Click to enlargeWhat’s old is new again.  That’s how this whole retro thing works, right?  As you’ve probably seen, Ford’s been running a commercial for the Fiesta that features some wild Cirque du Soleil-style acrobatics.  Entitled It's a Pretty Big Deal, it highlights many of the car’s virtues in a clever, eye-catching way.   But the look and feel of this 60-second spot are remarkably similar to an ad from more than half a century ago, one that trumpeted the merits of the then-brand new ‘49 Ford.  Take a closer look at these two images.  See what I mean?

Of course the big question is: if you steal from yourself is it still plagiarism? ... Probably not.

RoAb #57 - The 'DOA' Episode

This week we look at a lineup of stories that can only be described as “dead on arrival.”  GM executives wuss out and pull the plug on a commercial featuring Sarah Palin and Tina Fey (I guess it’s full-speed ahead on “Chevy runs deep”).  Honda showcases a lineup of pimped-out CR-Zs at the SEMA show in Las Vegas (need I say more?).  The “Critical Mass” bicycle rally is critically wounded as police in Long Beach, California cite cyclists and impound their rides.  Enjoy all that and more, plus we take a look at some revolutionary aircraft in the “Blind Spot” and delve into the inner workings of the human mind with another installment of “Psy-Car-Logy.”  The birdman Colin Bird from Cars.com is this week’s special guest.
